Kenny K’ore four years ago, surprised everyone when he left one of Nigeria’s leading Gospel music groups, Infinity, to continue music as a solo artiste. Since then Kenny K’ore has been successful with an album of his own and several hit tracks such as: I believe, Somore, etc. getting massive airplay on radio and TV. Kenny has also racked up a massive fan base and hasn’t stopped influencing this generation for Christ through his music.
In this interview, Zjolt speaks to Kenny K’ore about his music, his faith, Infinity and more!
Let’s begin with knowing you, who is Kenny K’ore – I mean your real name and a little bit about you?
My name is Kehinde Akinbode, I am Yoruba, from Ogun State. I was born and raised in a Christian family, my father was a Christian (He is late now, we lost him in 2010), and my mum is a Christian. Both of them are avid music listeners, I’m sure that must be part of what influenced my becoming a musician today, because it was pretty much a musical household. This article is focused on some issues concerning contemporary art and its practitioners and art critics as it relates to Nigeria from 1950 to date. In any way the article may not be able to discuss in minute detail due to space constraint. The history of contemporary art in Nigeria cannot be complete without referring to the instrumental figures who through their solo efforts brought Nigerian modern art into the world art history. The history started with Aina Onabolu 1881-1963 as a leading figure who did not only start the art of drawing and painting but also fought single handedly to put art in the school curriculum in 1927.
