    Richard C Boucher, MD, is William Rand Kenan Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been the Director of the Cystic Fibrosis/Pulmonary Research and Treatment Center since its inception in 1988, and is Co-Director of the Gene Therapy Center. The Boucher lab pursues a variety of investigations into the functions of airway epithelia in health and disease. In general terms, the lab focuses on five interrelated areas of research:

    2. Airway epithelial Na+ transport, including studies of normal regulation of airway epithelial Na+ transport, and role of Na+ transport in airways disease;
